The opening weekend of this three weekend festival celebrates the work of Chicago's Silk Road Rising with a video play titled The Balancing Arab. Additionally, artists Cynthia Ling Lee and Shyamala Moorty of the Post-Natyam Collective based in Los Angeles, CA. will present What's Your Stereotype? which challenges assumptions of gender and culture. Sunday night's performance will include two sets of quartets with collaborating musicians and dancers. The first set of this improvisational evening will include Han Bennink with a snare drum, Mary Oliver playing the viola, and dancers Lisa Gonzales and JulieAnn Graham. The second set incorporates dance duo Taisha Paggett and Travis Robb with Michael Moore playing the clarinet and alto sax along with Tristan Honsinger playing the cello. Featuring new choreography and performance by Philip Elson, Damon Green, Amanda McAlister, Bruce Ortiz, Javier Marchan Ramos, and Cara Sabin.

A concert of new short dances made and performed by the six members of The Seldoms. With their long history of collaboration in the studio and forging a shared vocabulary, these idiosyncratic dance artists shift gears to devise works of their own.

Beginning with the movement of breath, we discover our bodies.We search for connection; within ourselves, within our community, and within the unknown. Agree Performance’s inter-generational dance pulls from improvisation,contemporary dance, social dance and Vaudeville to create a work that is wholly original and intensely thoughtful.

As an extension of the monthly Works-In-Progress series Fraction: Dance In ProgressIn here, we are whole is a shared bill between four of Chicago’s emerging choreographers. In this first time-convening, Francesca Bourgault, Ashley Deran, Lauren Warnecke, and Jessie Young finish what they started in Fraction, and, in doing so, each creates her own distinctly unique atmosphere. Together, the seven pieces presented make for a deliciously rich evening of dance.
